Q: What is the UKCA Marking and when will it come into effect?

A: The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking that is to be used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers most goods which previously required the CE marking. The UKCA marking was due to come into effect on 1st January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, the UK Government recently announced an extension to the transition period. This extension of 12 months from the previous deadline of 1st January 2022 has been introduced to give businesses more time to prepare for the new legislative environment in the UK following its departure from the European Union. In doing this the UK Government is also recognising that the COVID-19 pandemic has placed other considerable pressures on businesses during this time of transition. From 1st January 2023 PPE products being placed on the GB market will need to be UKCA marked.

UKCA will not be recognised in the EU market. Products that require CE marking will still need a CE marking to be sold in the EU. All products offered as part of our Exclusive Brand ranges will be dual marked to both regulations. We are actively in the process in ensuring all our products are certified to both regulations and are working with several Notified and Approved Bodies to achieve this. Over the coming months you will start to see the UKCA symbol displayed on our products. During this time, we will be undertaking the necessary steps to update our product information via our website and product literature. If you require any further information regarding UKCA for any of our products, please contact technicalsupport@greenham.com

Q: Are your safety boots available in wide fittings?

A: The standard width fitting for non-safety shoes is an 'E'. Safety shoes in the main are 3E or E+2 with composite toe cap product coming up wider still because of the nature of the construction.  We do not advertise these as wide fitting as it could be misleading to the customer as it is personal to the wearer.  We find this covers all but exceptional circumstances, where this is not the case, we recommend a specialist wide fit brand or supplier.

Q: Do you provide a next day delivery service?

A: Yes, we do.

Q: Does Bunzl Greenham do Click and Collect?

A: At the moment, this is not something we offer on our website however we do offer a Call and Collect service – just call your local Service Centre and they can confirm if they have the items you are requesting in stock and collect them at a time that best suits you.

Q: How many days do we have on our account before paying?

A: Our Standard Terms of payment are Nett Monthly 30 Days.

Q: Why do you use plastic bags in your packaging to us when your Sustainability message is so strong, when will these be phased out?

A: Currently, plastic remains the best material to package a wide range of products due to its ability to keep them clean, dry and protected whilst also being very lightweight for transport. We are currently reviewing the packaging across our own brand workwear range to reduce the plastic packaging used on these products. Our KeepSafe gloves will be packaged plastic-free, which will help us to avoid approximately 2 million pieces of single-use plastic per year.

Q: Does your company support Zero to Landfill when dealing with waste?

A: No, our general waste currently goes to a mixture of both energy recovery and landfill depending on the current waste management provider servicing the branch. We are in the process of reviewing where our waste goes and will be moving to a zero to landfill service upon completion of the review.

Q: Does your company support Energy from Waste when dealing with waste?

A: Yes. Much of our general waste currently goes to energy recovery facilities.

Q: Does your company support UK Waste Disposal Only when dealing with waste?

A: No. All material is sorted and treated in the UK to make it into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF)

Q: Do we offer our clients a chance for us to collect and recycle the plastic bottles we supply them with?

A: No, we do not currently offer a collection or recycling service for plastic bottles. But it is a service that we are currently trialling.

Q: What are you doing for PPE Recycling?

A: We are in the process of improving the PPE Recycling service by moving to a new provider. They collect all PPE except for face masks due to COVID restrictions. This service takes a tiered approach to PPE recycling, enabling suitable PPE to be recycling into new garments or insulation/garden liners etc before any lower grade material is sent for energy recovery. We will be able to provide customers with a report that breaks down the proportion of PPE that was recycled or sent for energy recovery
