The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking that is to be used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers most goods which previously required the CE marking.

On the 20th of June 2022, the Government amended their guidance on the requirements for UKCA marking across many product sectors including, of course, PPE.

The easements to the previously published guidance are to further support businesses as they adapt to the UKCA regime. Where any PPE which has been CE conformity assessed and certified by non-UK conformity assessment bodies (i.e., Notified bodies) a manufacturer can now use that CE certification as the basis for declaring that product to be compliant with the UKCA regime.

UKCA will not be recognised in the EU market. Products that require CE marking will still need a CE marking to be sold in the EU. All products offered as part of our Exclusive Brand ranges will be dual marked to both regulations. We are actively in the process in ensuring all our products are certified to both regulations and are working with several Notified and Approved Bodies to achieve this.

Over the coming months you will start to see the UKCA symbol displayed on our products. During this time, we will be undertaking the necessary steps to update our product information via our website and product literature. If you require any further information regarding UKCA for any of our products, please contact technicalsupport@greenham.com

The standard width fitting for non-safety shoes is an 'E'. Safety shoes in the main are 3E or E+2 with composite toe cap product coming up wider still because of the nature of the construction. We do not advertise these as wide fitting as it could be misleading to the customer as it is personal to the wearer.

We find this covers all but exceptional circumstances, where this is not the case, we recommend a specialist wide fit brand or supplier.

Currently, plastic remains the best material to package a wide range of products due to its ability to keep them clean, dry and protected whilst also being very lightweight for transport. We are currently reviewing the packaging across our own brand workwear range to reduce the plastic packaging used on these products. Our KeepSafe gloves will be packaged plastic-free, which will help us to avoid approximately 2 million pieces of single-use plastic per year.

We operate a zero to landfill policy for waste from our sites via our waste management partner.

No, we do not currently offer a collection or recycling service for plastic bottles. But it is a service that we are currently trialling.

We are in the process of improving the PPE Recycling service by moving to a new provider. They collect all PPE except for face masks due to COVID restrictions.

This service takes a tiered approach to PPE recycling, enabling suitable PPE to be recycling into new garments or insulation/garden liners etc before any lower grade material is sent for energy recovery.

We will be able to provide customers with a report that breaks down the proportion of PPE that was recycled or sent for energy recovery.
